Luc Bellet is a Vice President at The Clorox Company, where he is responsible for Global Finance and Strategic Planning. Prior to this, he held several finance and operational leadership positions in both Fortune 500 and start-up companies. A French native, Bellet lived and worked in many different places across the globe, including in Africa and in the Middle-East. Bellet is an avid surfer. He lives in San Francisco, with his wife and two young kids, Maile and Hideo. Bellet holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Middlesex in England, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California Berkeley.
Emily Goligoski (@Emgollie) is Research Director for the Membership Puzzle Project, a collaboration between the Dutch journalism platform De Correspondent and New York University. She previously worked as a user experience research lead in The New York Times newsroom and brought design research to Mozilla Foundation. Goligoski completed her Master’s in Learning, Design & Technology at Stanford while conducting user research at Intel Labs. She previously reported for Chicago Public Radio (WBEZ) and studied journalism at Northwestern.
For more than 25 years, Lori Kaplan has headed the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), a full-service community center, non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. Under Lori’s direction, LAYC has helped guide thousands of low-income youth to better opportunity, while creating pioneering organizations and schools. Kaplan is the winner of numerous awards including ‘Washingtonian of the Year’ and The Casey Foundation Families Count Award. LAYC is a 7 million dollar organization including a Ben and Jerry’s Partnership and a charter school.

Toledo manages the company’s top-tier partners including AT&T U-Verse, DISH Networks, Cox Communications, Google Play, Vudu, Xbox, and Sony.
Mark Bauman currently serves as SVP at Smithsonian Enterprises. Formerly, he acted as the Executive Vice President of National Geographic Ventures. In this role, he was the creative force behind television, digital media and music projects. He conceived and launched the All Roads Film Project, a National Geographic initiative that provides a global platform for indigenous and under-represented minority-culture filmmakers, photographers and artists from around the world. Bauman has more than 20 years of award-winning experience and has been recognized with numerous broadcast and print journalism honors, including an Emmy and seven Cine Golden Eagles.
Frank Crowson serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Best Buy Co., Inc. Mr. Crowson served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Guitar Center, Inc. since September 2015. Mr. Crowson implements a comprehensive marketing plan to increase overall brand visibility by utilizing new progressive marketing tools. He is also responsible for leading Guitar Center’s creative digital and brand marketing teams. He joined Guitar Center from Target Corporation where, he served as Vice President of Marketing and was responsible for promotion strategy and weekly customer-facing communications. During his tenure at Target Crowson, he helped build the brand’s marketing partnerships with prominent music artists such as Justin Timberlake, Adele, Taylor Swift, and Pink.
Juniper Downs is Google’s Head of Global Public Policy and Government Relations. She also works on child safety and controversial content across products. Downs joined Google in 2012, to lead content policy development for social products, setting policy guidelines for issues like harassment and hate speech. Prior to Google, Downs practiced law in the public sector. First defending the constitutional rights of public school students as a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, and then leading the Santa Clara County Social Justice and Impact Litigation project, where she litigated and worked on policy reform around issues including LGBT equality, criminal justice reform, and health policy. Downs holds a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Brown University and a J.D. from New York University, both magna cum laude. She is a certified mediator in New York and California. Before becoming a lawyer, Downs was a teacher in Oakland, CA.
Steve Fainaru is a Senior Writer for ESPN’s investigative reporting team. He is a former correspondent for The Washington Post‘s foreign staff, where he covered the war in Iraq and won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting in 2008. Previously, Fainaru worked at The Boston Globe for 11 years, covering the Boston Red Sox, Wall Street, and Latin America. He served as that newspaper’s Latin America bureau chief. Fainaru is the author of Big Boy Rules: America’s Mercenaries Fighting in Iraq and co-author of The Duke of Havana: Baseball, Cuba and the Search for the American Dream and most recently, League of Denial: the NFL, Concussions and the Battle for Truth.
Keven Guillory has been a familiar voice on Bay Area radio for over 30 years, serving as anchor, reporter, director, and producer at stations including KRE, KBLX, KDIA, KSOL, KITS, K101, KALW, and KQED, where he was a founding member of the News team. Guillory has won awards from the Radio and Television News Directors Association, the Associated Press and others throughout his career. In addition to Youth Radio, Guillory volunteers as a board member of the Bay Area Black Journalists Association and the Suicide Prevention/Crisis Support Services of Alameda County.
Julie Jensen is currently a Trustee of the Jenesis Group and the owner/developer of Echoview Farm and Mill in Weaverville, North Carolina. She played a crucial role in guiding Youth Radio in the acquisition of a permanent home with the purchase of 1701 Broadway in Oakland. She’s also helped Youth Radio develop specific areas of news coverage including independent film, politics and political conventions. Jensen’s background includes working as an attorney (for the IRS) and also as a philanthropist and entrepreneur. Through Echoview, Jensen is creating a model for sustainable, community-oriented, agricultural enterprise. Jensen received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Grinnell College as well as a Law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Frank Martin is Deputy Director of the East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC). Prior to joining EBCLC in 2016, Martin was President of Standard Pacific Capital, a global investment management firm, and an adjunct faculty member at UC Berkeley School of Law (Berkeley Law). Martin has served in numerous capacities on several non-profit boards in the Bay Area including Treasurer of Centro Legal de la Raza, and a member of the finance committee for St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation. Martin received his J.D. from Berkeley Law and his B.B.A. in finance from the University of Georgia where he was a Foundation Fellow.
Marlene Millikan is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has had a psychotherapy practice in Berkeley for the past 35 years. She has worked in early childhood mental health settings, with homeless families and as a supervisor for A Home Within which provides long-term psychotherapy for children in the foster care system. As a long time Berkeley resident she and husband have been active in supporting community health and mental health programs.
Gary Rydstrom is a sound designer at Skywalker Sound. He began his career in sound at Sprocket Systems, the sound group at Lucasfilm, and later, he was a director at Pixar. His career in sound includes Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Jurassic Park, Backdraft, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Saving Private Ryan, Toy Story, Titanic, Finding Nemo, War Horse, and Brave. Rydstrom has won seven Academy Awards for his work to date, more than any other sound designer.
Christopher Shearer is a program officer at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He helps manage grants from their Education Program to improve education through changes in state policy to implement a reform strategy known as “deeper learning.” Shearer was formerly the associate executive director of the National Geographic Society’s Education Foundation where he funded selected youth media programs. His past board service includes the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers, the Geography Education National Implementation Project, and the Canadian Council for Geographic Education. Shearer is a Tar Heel, guitar student, recovering runner, and avid radio listener—his connections to Youth Radio as a funder and fan span more than a decade.
Jerry A. Gonzales II serves as the Director of Talent and Human Resources with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. In this role, he is responsible for the complete provision of work and strategy regarding LMNA’s people from recruitment to ongoing professional development.
Prior to LMNA, Jerry worked at Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE), where he was the Senior Director of Talent, Learning and Culture. Jerry was a part of the rapid growth at LEE, expanding the organization by 5x. Previous experiences include positions at The Broad Center and UCLA’s Counseling and Psychological Services and UCLA’s Community Programs Office.
Jerry studied Law at the University of West Los Angeles, has a BA in Asian-American Studies and Anthropology from UCLA, and is pursuing his MBA with a concentration in Human Resources from Southern New Hampshire University. He is a certified Senior HR Professional through both the Society of Human Resources Professionals and the Human Resources Certification Institute and a certified mediator through Eckerd College. Jerry lives in Los Angeles, California with his family.
Paul Smith is currently an entrepreneur in the insurtech space, aiming to build a new company to provide digital insurance solutions for the sharing economy. Previously, Paul has spent ten years in the insurance industry, most recently with Liberty Mutual. Prior to that, Paul was an operating executive with TPG Capital in San Francisco, and also held a number of analytical and financial roles with Expedia, Hotwire and Evite.com. Paul holds a B.S. from Georgetown University and a M.B.A. from UC Berkeley/Haas.
Aja is a communications and events production professional with wide experience ranging from political campaigns to education to nonprofits. She serves multiple roles within the Fahr network and works to align the efforts of various organizations in promoting social justice, and creating inclusive, and equitably prosperous communities. Aja is passionate about civil rights and social action, economic empowerment, environment, human rights, politics, and poverty alleviation.
Arnold served as the director of the Alameda County Public Health Department in Oakland from 1994 to 2006. As director, he provided leadership and management of the administrative, research, epidemiology, program, and policy activities of the department. His diverse background includes positions as a high school teacher and principal, non-profit executive director, family counselor, college teacher, administrator, and restaurant owner and operator. In addition to Youth Radio, Arnold serves on the board of Triple Step Toward the Cure, a non-profit created to raise awareness and funds towards the cure of triple negative breast cancer.
Dave is a donor development professional with a background in major gift fundraising, capital campaign management, legislative advocacy, electoral outreach, and community organizing. In his current role with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, he secures critical foundation and corporate funding for clinical needs, research, uncompensated care, and community-based initiatives that promote the health and well-being of all Bay Area children. Dave has been a longtime advocate for independent media, and hosts a monthly radio program at KALX 90.7 FM in Berkeley.
Michael Nahill is a Corporate & Investment Banking Associate at Citi specializing in providing corporate finance advisory services. He works closely with a group of large-cap Silicon Valley technology companies to develop their financial strategies and raise capital to fund their initiatives. Mike is also very active in supporting Citi’s engagement with its Bay Area non-profit partners as an event organizer and volunteer. Mike graduated from Georgetown University with a Major in Economics and concentration in Political Science and Music. He is extremely passionate about the power of expression through the arts and journalism.
Remy Goldsmith has dedicated her career to public service. With over a decade’s worth of experience in public affairs, she brings a depth of expertise in policy, government relations and community outreach to her role as senior community leadership officer.
Prior to joining SVCF, Remy worked for several elected officials, most recently serving as District Director for a local Member of Congress. There, she was responsible for two district offices, operationalizing district plans for policy objectives, outreach strategies, messaging and public services in a congressional district of 700,000 people.
Remy graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a double major in anthropology and French, and holds a law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law. In her free time, she maintains an active yoga practice and is an avid classic jazz fan. A Bay Area native, Remy’s volunteer pursuits include mentoring first generation and new college students and voter education through the League of Women Voters San Francisco.
Sara has more than a decade of experience leading and delivering audience research studies, content strategies, and strategic messaging projects. Sara is currently the Creative Strategy Director for Forum One and has led content marketing and strategy for healthcare technologies at the Advisory Board Company and managed health communications at the Brookings Institution. Sara has worked with clients such as USAID, Global Impact, Internews, the Aspen Institute, and the Smithsonian National Zoo, and has extensive experience conducting audience research, developing branding strategies, and crafting content, visual messaging, and scripting for fundraising pitch decks. Sara is also a board member of Keep Oakland Beautiful.
