The Freedom Campaign: Empowering the next generation
The Freedom Campaign, will empower young BIPOC journalists and artists to create a culture of their own and disrupt tired mainstream narratives through media arts education, paid career-track employment, content amplified by an audience of millions and support services that care for their needs and help them build resilience.
This campaign will accomplish this empowerment in three specific ways.
- Creating Regional Hubs – We will deepen our national reach, following the model of our successful #NotSoGolden pilot project, which features stories from diverse California communities in four cities in order to elevate similar underreported narratives. We will mirror that reach and impact with hubs and collaborative coverage in the Midwest, South, and on the East Coast.
- New Distribution Partnerships – These partnerships will ensure YR Media’s ability to deepen coverage of key issue areas of interest including Environmental Policy, Health, Restorative Justice, Foster Care, Immigration, Gender Equality, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Cultural Coverage – We will expand arts and music-focused storytelling by leveraging the talent of youth across the country through a dedicated team of youth and adult editors dedicated to covering the arts and culture beat in new ways, as well as producing original music to complement our storytelling efforts.
The voices of this generation need to be heard, and you can play a key role in amplifying their stories.

Your support will show young storytellers and artists the power of unity and importance of the Freedom of the Press and uplift them as they curate stories that have traditionally gone untold by mainstream media.
