Built to Inspire Creativity
In 2007, YR Media purchased and developed a four-story, 20,000 square foot, state-of-the-art multimedia production facility in the heart of downtown Oakland, California. A former bank complete with a vault, the building is equipped with three professional studios with multi-channel mixing boards, voice recording set-ups, and live-streaming capability, and one with ISDN and surround-sound production. We also have eight sound-proof booths for dedicated multimedia creation and editing.
In 2015, YR Media completed construction on a 25-seat Mac-enabled classroom with cutting edge educational systems, including four video screens, a projector, and an audio system to communicate with students individually and as a group. In addition to the main production facilities and learning space, YR Media’s facility houses a Mac Mini Lab with widescreen monitors and a second separate learning space that utilizes Dell PCs and the Windows platform. We have an arsenal of audio and video recording equipment for our YR Stars to bring their projects to life, whether they are in the building, at home, or in the field.
In 2021, YR Media opened a virtual Midwest Hub in Chicago to support our journalism in the region. We welcomed over 20 new regular contributors into the fold. In 2022, we are expanding to a physical location that will offer training and platforms for our YR stars, so stay tuned to this page for updates and opportunities!
