How We Partner
YR Media is focused on youth-produced content and products. Our partnerships focus mainly on the distribution of those products, thought leadership and disrupting the media landscape by training the next generation of BIPOC content creators who better reflect the diversity of our communities.
We align our partnerships, both editorial and music, with YR Media’s strategic goals of funding the training and creative independence of our content creators, reaching large audiences, influencing policy, and creating pipelines for career opportunities that serve our young people in addition to our partners.
Editorial Partnerships
We work with major outlet partners such as NPR, The Washington Post, CBS Radio Network, The New York Times, PRX/Radiotopia, Medium, Critical Frequency, Grist and public radio stations across the country.

Music Partnerships
We are changing the music industry landscape by working with aspiring music leaders to create the gold standard in music production education.
We have an extensive music library of original, sample-free compositions created by our music production participants that can be licensed for a fee. YR Music instrumentals produced by YR Stars have been featured on Post Reports, KQED Live and Adult ISH.
Editorial Products

Stories, which range from audio to narrative, appear on YR.Media’s digital platform that reaches young adult audiences of approximately 70K pageviews/month and selected stories could be considered for recording for YR Media’s broadcast outlets including KQED FM (that airs across Northern California and reaches audiences in the millions).
As part of a series package, YR Media can also produce audiograms for easy shareability on social media.

Adult ISH is YR Media’s culture, advice and storytelling podcast produced entirely by folks who are almost adults, with one million+ downloads across our catalog. Adult ISH has two seasons per year (20 episodes total).
The series is produced by YR Media and distributed by Radiotopia from PRX, one of the most creative and successful podcast networks. YR's Podcast Team collaborates with partners on single co-branded special episodes based on themes mission-aligned with YR Media.

In co-branded series, YR takes the lead on youth reporter planning and reporting/production, using best practices working with young people on high-stakes editorial projects, and working collaboratively with partner organization on final editing, tailoring the content to the style that works best for distribution format, while centering the youth contributors in editorial decisions.

YR Media collaborates with companies and organizations on 2-3 minute sizzle reels of their projects, including events and initiatives, tapping into the expertise of our video producers and editors working alongside our emerging visual journalists.

Music
YR Music provides ethically-driven music production education by inspiring, training, and empowering the next generation of creatives. The work of YR music interns and fellows has been featured in projects and events including: Post Reports (Washington Post podcast), KQED Live, and Yerba Buena Center for The Arts, as well as YR Media documentary and podcast productions. YR Media licenses existing music instrumentals, as well as developing custom instrumentals.
Design
YR Media’s in-house design team works with YR stars to integrate strategy and design in producing creative assets and visual identity for our many products, platforms and initiatives from podcasts to events to websites to social campaigns.
Educator Tools
Teach YR, the learning division of YR Media, uses YR expertise and a network of educators and students to design custom curriculums and toolkits, working with partners to define broad outcomes and learning objectives.
Toolkit development may also include distribution to YR Media’s network of over 550 teachers and students, along with YR’s statewide and national educator leaders.
Live Events
YR Media produces unique live storytelling experiences, typically combining our award-winning editorial and original music composition.
