POWER AT THE POLLS
Our 18to29 NOW correspondents are delivering content around democracy from across the country and on the airwaves of NPR over the last two weeks including this feature on NPR’s Morning Edition. Additionally, youth contributors Teo Tezcan and Lucy Barnum served as experts for a KQED virtual panel on Facebook, Ballots and Brews hosted by Guy Marzorati. The dynamic duo shared important information about California Propositions related to youth.
POP STARS
On Oct. 23, PopSugar went live with our collaboration, a virtual panel discussion and interactive experience featuring 18to29NOW correspondents and our Adult ISH co-host Merk Nguyen as the co-host. This effort opens up YR Media to a brand new audience of multicultural Millennials and Gen Z-ers, and like past arrangements with Teen Vogue, exposes the YR brand to complement our work with NPR, New York Times, The Guardian and other legacy media outlets.
ERASE YOUR FACE
Expanding on YR Media’s work to ensure that AI is developed with a more equitable approach, our interactive team took on a new challenge that went live on Oct. 20. To address potential bias and inaccuracies across A.I., we teamed up with the K12 Lab of Stanford University’s d-school to tell a fresh story about facial recognition software. Our YR stars take hold of the narrative with this playful interactive “explainer” for their young peers to address dead-serious implications. Want to see what happens if you digitally disappear?
