Southern Exposure: YR Media Represents at SXSW ‘24 Panel

On March 8, YR Media took the stage at SXSW ‘24 as part of a panel powered by our partners at Pivotal Ventures and Harvard University’s Center for Digital Thriving and Young Futures. Our CEO Kyra Kyles shared not one, but two videos featuring our YR stars, mostly between the ages of 14 to 20, talking about the challenges and opportunities they see on social media.

Check out Video #1 which explains what adults are getting wrong with “put down the phones” and “stay off social” rhetoric.

Video #2 highlights solutions that young people are finding on their own and details how they hope adult allies (parents, guardians, etc.) will help them along on their journey.

Here is a link to the panel in full so you can hear the conversation curated by Pivotal Ventures’ Strategy Director Kelsey Noonan (Moderator) among panelists: Katya Hancock, Executive Director of the new nonprofit Young Futures; Executive Director Dr. Emily Weinstein of the Center for Digital Thriving; and Kyra Kyles, CEO of YR Media.

Check out the brilliant reporting of our YR stars on this special link.

Keep the conversation going on our socials via IG.
