Rebecca Martin: Amplifying Youth Voices

Meet Rebecca Martin, senior director of Partnerships and Podcasting, and YR Media’s longest serving employee. On November 9, 1998 Rebecca started her career at Youth Radio as a producer in the newsroom where she focused on national content distribution.

“I was very excited to work for an organization that helped young people learn their way around a newsroom,” said Martin. “Twenty-five years ago YR was a really small organization that was starting to gain traction. I was energized by the idea of collaborating with young people, learning how to be creative in my approach to storytelling [reporting], and being a part of growing YRs national reputation.”

Through the years, Rebecca has held many titles including Managing Editor, Director of National Networks and Executive Director of Journalism to name a few. Although her title and day-to-day duties have changed, her purpose for working at YR Media has remained the same. She has always put the importance of active involvement in YR’s future and the emerging creators she serves at the forefront of her work.

To celebrate this career milestone, Rebecca is adding “fundraiser” to her job description. She is encouraging friends, family and you, our supporters, to join her in supporting the 30+ Beyond Media movement by donating to YR Media in multiples of $25. In addition to your contribution, she asks that you add a note stating "in honor of Rebecca's 25 years" so that we can personally acknowledge your support.

To contribute to YR Media's future and express support for Rebecca's milestone, donations can be made here.

The YR Media team is grateful to all contributors, and for considering this opportunity to celebrate Rebecca and contribute to our ongoing success.
